You won’t be visiting Bako (a real beauty of a National Park in Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo) for its exquisite cuisine or for the chance to have a near-death encounter with a croc, but you can bet there are a whole bunch of very good reasons to head that way.
Back when we told people about how we were leaving our full-time jobs and getting a one-way ticket to Bangkok, the questions just came pouring in, meaning that even after that first blog post we still have a whole drawer full of unanswered questions.
During our stay in Chiang Mai, amidst exuberant temples built under the Lanna Kingdom, cooking classes and tours to elephant sanctuaries, a museum called “Art in Paradise” just kind of stood out.

When we sometimes stop to think about what allowed us to start travelling long-term, there are two categories that come to mind: those which made the whole change possible, and those which somehow made it much easier.
Having told you about our (pretty relaxed) 16 days in Melaka, last April, we wanted to go into some detail about something that probably raises some questions: our day-to-day expenses. Like, how expensive is Melaka, anyway?
Back home, in Portugal, Melaka is quite a familiar name. It’s like Goa and Macao, names that evoke memories of our country’s long gone past lives, when the little Portugal was the Portuguese Empire, sometimes called the first global empire in history.
We’re probably not exaggerating when we say that, throughout our trips to countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore or Taiwan, we must have entered about.. a whole bunch of temples (ballpark).
